Flood warnings on area waterways following heavy rains
Several flood warnings are in effect in our area as the past few days of heavy rainfall is causing a rise in rivers and streams.
According to the National Weather Service, Youngs Creek at Amity, Little Blue River at Walkerville, Driftwood River at Edinburgh and East Fork White River at Seymour are all under flood warnings, with minor flooding underway.
According to flood gauges, Driftwood River is just passing the minor flood stage of 11 feet this afternoon. It is expected to crest at 11.5 feet early Friday morning and then drop back below flood level by Friday afternoon.
East Fork White River at Seymour rose above the minor flood level of 12 feet this morning and is at 12.6 feet this afternoon and rising. It should crest at 15.4 feet, still in the minor flood stage, by Saturday morning and should drop back out of the flood levels by Sunday evening.
In Columbus, East Fork White River has been rising but it is expected to crest below flood level by Friday morning.
