Forecasters warn of flooding dangers overnight
Emergency officials are warning that heavy rain is leading to surface flooding from runoff in our area as well as river flooding on East Fork White River at Seymour.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, an areal flood watch is effect from 7 p.m. this evening through Wednesday morning. Rainfall amounts over night are expected to be from 2 to 3 inches with the potential for more rain in some spots. That is expected to lead to flooding of creeks, streams, rivers and low-lying or flood-prone areas.
A flood warning goes into effect starting Wednesday morning on East Fork White River in Seymour and south. The river is expected to rise into minor flood level by Wednesday morning and not crest until early Friday afternoon. Minor flooding is expected.
The flood watch is in effect for Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson and Shelby counties in our area.
