Greensburg man sentenced in domestic dispute case

A Greensburg man is headed to prison after pleading guilty to domestic violence related charges in Bartholomew County.

According to the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office, Columbus police were called to a home on Sept. 20th of last year on a reported domestic disturbance. The victim said that 25-year-old Riley Schnider, who then lived in Columbus, had been drinking and had battered her, shouted at her and then used a knife to threaten her. He was taken into custody on felony charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon and domestic battery.

In June, Schnider pleaded guilty to the felony charge of intimidation with a Deadly Weapon and a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. Earlier this month, Bartholomew Superior Court 1 Judge Jim Worton sentenced him to three years in the Indiana Department of Corrections and one year with community corrections on the felony charge and a year of time in the Bartholomew County Jail, which was suspended to probation and will run consecutively.
