Hatton stepping down as Bartholomew library leader
The Bartholomew County Public Library will be looking for a new leader after Jason Hatton announced his resignation yesterday.
The library posted on social media announcing that the library’s director, Hatton, had presented his resignation to the library’s Board of Trustees.
Hatton began with the library as a reference librarian nearly 20 years ago. He said he has had an extraordinary career leading his hometown library but the time had come for him to step aside. Hatton said he is proud of the library and its impact on the community and that the library continues to grow in reach, relevance, facilities, partnerships and long-term possibilities.
Hatton said he and his family plan to continue to stay in the community.
The board will now start a search for a new leader with more details on the search process to come later. Vanessa Martin, the current assistant director, will serve as interim director following Hatton’s departure.
