Hope opens grant applications for housing repairs

The Town of Hope is now taking applications for owner occupied housing rehabilitation grants.

Last week, the Indiana Office of Community And Rural Affairs and Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith announced that the state was awarding $350,000 to the town for the grants, the only town in the state to receive the award.

Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation grants directly provide funds to low and moderate-income homeowners so they can make needed repairs on their homes..

According to the town, the repair work can include roof replacements, ADA accessibility, heating and cooling, lighting and electrical upgrades and water heater replacements. Grants can be for up to $15,000 and are based on income eligibility.

The grants can only go to owner-occupied homes on a permanent foundation.

Funding for the community development block grant programs comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and is administered by the Indiana Office of Community And Rural Affairs.
