Interstate 74 lanes, ramps to close near Greensburg for four months

INDOT says that lanes and ramps will be closing on Interstate 74 in Decatur County starting on Friday.

According to the agency, the work will be going on in the westbound lanes near Greensburg. Lanes will be closed between mile markers 128 and 134, with all traffic rerouted to the eastbound lanes through the work zone. Starting on Friday, crews will close the ramps from I-74 westbound to U.S. 421 and the ramp from U.S. 421 to I-74 westbound.

The closures will allow for a bridge replacement project over Muddy Creek as well paving work on I-74. This phase of work is expected to take four months to complete. The work schedule is dependent on the weather.

Drivers should use the Interstate 74 and State Road 3 interchange as a detour for the closed ramps.

The work is part of a $74.4 million interstate improvement contract that will be going on through late 2028. John R. Jurgensen Company is the contractor for the project.
