Jennings man’s death in home fire being investigated
The death of a Jennings County man is under investigation after a home fire yesterday.
According to Indiana State Police, emergency workers were called to a home fire in the 4500 block of North County Road 350W in Queensville at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Jennings County deputies and North Vernon police were the first on the scene and were told that someone was still in the home. Firefighters from the Scipio-Geneva Township Fire Department soon arrived and put the fire out. A search found the body of an adult man inside.
The Jennings County Coroner’s office has identified the victim as 33-year-old Kody A. Perry, who lived at the home.
Detectives and crime scene investigators from the Indiana State Police are conducting a joint investigation along with detectives from the Jennings County sheriff’s Department. An autopsy is scheduled to attempt to determine a manner and cause of death.
The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
The investigation is ongoing.
