Lack of seatbelt leads to North Vernon drug arrest

North Vernon police say a driver is facing drug related charges after a traffic stop last week on U.S. 50.
The police department announced yesterday that the incident started with a traffic stop on U.S. 50 near State Road 7 on March 3rd after an officer noticed a driver not wearing a seatbelt. After stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The driver, Danny J. Myers II, was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated by a controlled substance, driving while suspended with a prior conviction and for possessing the drugs and paraphernalia.
Chief Keith Messer said that traffic violations “often lead to the discovery of more serious criminal activity and help keep (the) community safe.”
