Library to celebrate new east Columbus branch

The Bartholomew County Public Library will be holding an opening celebration for its newest branch location later this month.

The new branch at 421 McClure Road, the former Eastside Community Center, opened to patrons in January after a full interior renovation.

The location offers a small collection of materials and will serve as a pickup location for materials you put on hold. The center also provides wireless access, computers for public use, printing, copying and scanning services.

The opening celebration will begin at 4:30 p.m. on April 15th with a ribbon cutting. Refreshments will be provided by Lemonade Bros and Cookie Paradise.

The community center was founded by Roby and America Anderson in 1975 and opened on McClure Road in 1979. The center struggled financially in recent years and after identifying a need for library services on the east side, the Bartholomew County Public Library assumed ownership of the property.
