Many area rivers are flooding, roads are closed: 11 a.m. update
After the three to five inches of rain that have fallen recently, the National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued flood warnings for rivers and streams in our area.
The highest flooding in our area is expected on East Fork White River at Seymour. That river is already in the moderate flood stage and is expected to rise to within a few inches of turning into major flooding. The river is currently expected to crest at 18.9 by this evening, just below the 19 foot major flood level.
East Fork White River at Columbus is in the minor flood stage this morning and is expected to crest at just below the moderate flood level by Friday morning.
According to river gauges waterways with ongoing moderate flooding in our area include:
- East Fork White River at Seymour
- Youngs Creek at Amity in Johnson County.
- Little Blue River at Walkerville in Shelby County
Waterways with minor flooding include:
- Sugar Creek near Edinburgh
- Driftwood River near Edinburgh
- Flatrock River at St Paul
- Flatrock River at Columbus
- Haw Creek at Clifford
- East Fork White River at Columbus
- Clifty Creek near Columbus
- North Fork Salt Creek in Nashville
Flood warnings on some rivers are in effect into Saturday. Up to an inch or more of rain is still in the forecast for the next few days, which will further add to the flooding.
According to Bartholomew County Emergency Management many roads are closed or are covered with high water.

- Jonesville Road/ State Road 11 between State Road 46 and Garden City
- Jonesville Road/ State Road 11 between Southern Crossing and County Road 550S
- South Gladstone Ave curves
- County Road 475W between Carr Hill and County Road 250S
- Rockyford Road – between Longshore and Marr Road.
- County Road S 600E to County Road 850S
- County Road 400N – Tinkey Bridge
- County Road 800S between Azalia and State Road11
- West Baker Hollow Road at County Road 700W
- Southern Crossing between Jonesville Road/State Road 11 and County Road 150E
- County Road 400W at County Road 850S
- County Road 800S – between Base Rd. and County Road 60E
- County Road 300E – between 500S and 600S
- Tellman Road between Indianapolis Rd and 200W
Roads with High Water:
- Central Avenue at Broadmoor
- County Road 250S – between County Road 400W and County Road 475W
- County Road 400W – between County Road 200S and County Road 250S
- Water is moving into Candlelight Village
- County Road 300S between County Road 275W and County Road 400W
- Tellman Road between Indianapolis Road and County Road 200W
- County Road 250N at County Road 1140 E in the Anderson Falls area

- Several sections of the People Trails are closed.

- Mill Race Park
- Noblitt Park
- Tannehill Fishing Site
