Muscatatuck to celebrate sandhill cranes Jan. 31st

Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge near Seymour will be celebrating the departure of a legion of graceful but noisy guests later this month.

According to the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society, the annual Crane Celebration Day will be held Saturday, January 31st to say farewell to the sandhill cranes as they continue their migration through southern Indiana.

Among the activities there will be a guided driving tour led by crane experts to observe the sandhill cranes around the refuge. That tour will leave the visitors center at 10:30 a.m. in the morning and at 2 p.m.

At 1 p.m. in the afternoon, wildlife photographer Dan Kaiser will have a a multi-media presentation for adults and children in the visitors center auditorium.

Kids will have the opportunity to create a Crane Craft art project with all art supplies provided.

The event is free and you are invited to attend. The wildlife refuge is off of U.S. 50 between Seymour and North Vernon.
