Nine taken into custody after Jennings home entry attempt

Nine people were taken into custody after a reported burglary attempt early yesterday morning in Jennings County.

According to the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department, a resident of Country Squire Lakes called dispatchers at about 12:54 a.m. this morning to report that someone had broken and then pushed in a window of a bedroom at the home. After deputies were alerted the suspects then fled in a vehicle.

Deputies arrived on County Road 300N noticed a vehicle that matched the description of the fleeing vehicle and found that it had been reported stolen out of Jackson County. Deputies and North Vernon police made a high-risk traffic stop on North State Street. After stopping the vehicle, five adults and four teenagers were taken from the vehicle and detained. The teens were taken to the sheriff’s department and their legal guardians were notified.

Interviews of the adults on the scene led to arrests of all five.

18 year old Zella Watkins of Seymour was arrested on preliminary charges of possessing a stolen vehicle and minor consumption.

22-year-old Koltin Martinez of Seymour is being accused of attempted residential entry, criminal mischief and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

19-year-old Mikkah Mccory of North Vernon is facing a change of possession of a legend drug and minor consumption.

The other two are facing misdemeanor charges of minor consumption: 20-year-old Allan Olmos and 18-year-old Jason Griffith Jr., both of Seymour.
