North Vernon fills all Hometown Hero banner spots for this year
The city of North Vernon has filled up all of the available spaces for Hometown Hero banners honoring veterans.
The city made the announcement this week that all of the spaces were full and thanked the community for its continuing support of the program. Because of the popularity, the city has recently installed double brackets on all light poles that are able to hold them, and is exploring more options to expand the program.
The city street department will be working to make sure all banners are flown as quickly as possible in the coming months.
The banner space is sold in two year blocks, so there may be openings next year. City officials encourage you to add your name to the waitlist. The next round of banner sales will be in July of next year. Each banner includes a photo of the veteran, their name, and their branch of service.
