North Vernon man accused in battery investigation

A North Vernon man is facing a felony battery charge after an investigation into an incident at an apartment complex left a victim bloodied.
According to the North Vernon Police Department, the investigation began on the afternoon January 31 after a reported attack in the parking lot of the Ivy Park Apartments. Police say that the male victim had visible injuries to his face including a bloodied nose and lip. According to the victim, Tyler Kissick opened his vehicle door and then struck him several times with his fists.
A warrant was issued for Kissick’s arrest on a felony charge of battery resulting in moderate bodily injury. An officer encountered Kissick last week and after confirming the warrant, took him into custody without incident.
Police Chief Keith Messer praised the officers for the investigation that led to the arrest, saying that violence in the community will not be tolerated. “
