North Vernon man accused of driving at 2x legal alcohol limit

A North Vernon man was arrested Monday on drunk driving charges after he was found to be at more than twice the legal blood alcohol level.

According to the North Vernon Police, officers pulled over a speeding vehicle on State Road 7 Monday and found that the driver appeared to be impaired. A breath test showed a blood alcohol of .20 percent, more than twice the legal limit.

The driver, 44 year old Allen R. Martin of North Vernon was taken into custody and is facing preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .15 percent or greater and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment.
