North Vernon man accused of threatening with toy gun

A North Vernon man is accused of making threats with a toy hand gun after an incident with a driver Friday afternoon.

According to the North Vernon Police Department, officers were called to the intersection of State Road 3 and Madison Avenue at just before 3 p.m. Friday afternoon. A witness said that a man on a bicycle approached his vehicle at a stoplight and pulled out what appeared to be a handgun. The driver, fearing for his safety, fled the intersection and called police.

Officers soon located 64-year-old Mark A. Huber of North Vernon near Madison Avenue and Industrial Drive. A search uncovered the purported weapon nearby, which turned out to be an antique cap gun. The victim identified Huber and he was taken into custody. A search found that he was carrying marijuana.

Huber is facing a felony charge of intimidation with a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor charge for possessing the drugs.
