Jennings County man is being accused of beating a victim with a baseball bat Monday morning, sending the victim to a trauma center.

According to the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to a home in Country Squire Lakes early Monday morning on a reported disturbance. That’s where they found the severely injured man. The victim and witnesses said that 38-year-old David Parrish of North Vernon had beaten the victim, then ran away before authorities arrived.

The victim was taken by medical helicopter to a trauma center for treatment.

A nearby homeowner then called dispatchers to report a man on their porch. Deputies and North Vernon police found Parrish there and take him into custody.

Parrish is facing a preliminary charge of Battery with a Deadly Weapon Causing Serious Bodily Injury. Deputies say that the investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.

Jennings County Rescue 20 medics and Scipio Geneva Township Fire and Rescue Department also assisted at the scene.
