North Vernon man’s body recovered from Jennings County lake

The body of a North Vernon man was recovered from Crosley Lake early Friday morning after he disappeared Thursday evening.

According to Indiana Department of Natural Resources conservation officers, the body of 20 year old Christopher Allman was recovered from the Jennings County lake at about 1:12 a.m. Friday.

Officers say that the incident began at about 9 p.m. when Allman was backing a pickup down the boat ramp, but the pickup entered the water and then continued about 100 feet down the ramp. Allman and a passenger both got out of the truck, but while the passenger was able to swim to safety, Allman went under the water and never resurfaced.

Allman was pronounced dead at the scene.
