Saturday bring chance of severe weather; Drought grip weakens

After long months of too little rain, we could be looking at too much over the weekend.

Forecasters for the National Weather Service in Indianapolis say that there is a marginal threat of severe weather tomorrow afternoon heading into Saturday evening, including heavy rains that could lead to some local flooding. We could also see some strong winds and even some short-lived tornadoes tomorrow.

A marginal risk is the lowest risk category from the weather agency.

South central Indiana is seeing some relief from the long-lasting drought conditions across the state, forecasters say. Bartholomew County is almost completely free of drought conditions according to the National Drought Monitor. Parts of surrounding counties are still abnormally dry, including all of Jennings and most of Jackson counties.

There are still several portion of northern Indiana that are seeing extreme drought conditions, including around the Kokomo area.
