Schneck to host Sparks of Strength ceremony next week

Schneck Medical Center in Seymour will be holding a ceremony next week remembering those who have suffered from colorectal cancer and reminding you to get checked.

The Sparks of Strength ceremony is set for 10 a.m. in the morning on Friday, March 6th in the main lobby at the hospital.

Participants will receive a blue tea light symbolizing awareness of colorectal cancer and to pay tribute to those affected by the disease. Participants will also be encouraged to pass the torch by encouraging others to get a screening colonoscopy.

Organizers say that if you are 45 or older or have risk factors such as smoking, obesity, physical inactivity, or heavy alcohol use, you talk to your physician about scheduling a colonoscopy.
