Seymour man accused of battering child

A Seymour man has been arrested, accused of battering a five year old child.

According to the Seymour Police Department, the Indiana Department of Child Services alerted police to a preliminary report of child abuse or neglect involving the child. The child had significant bruising and interviews as well as medical evaluations were conducted by investigators.

That led to the arrest Tuesday of 28-year-old Tristan T. Shelton on felony charges of domestic battery with bodily injury to a person under the age of 14 and neglect of a dependent resulting in bodily injury. Shelton was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
