Seymour recycling begins taking in batteries
The city of Seymour Department of Public Works is now accepting batteries for disposal.
According to the agency, you will need to prepare your batteries before dropping them off at the department offices on F. Avenue East at the airport. You must place clear tape over the battery terminals, including on button batteries. The tape will prevent the batteries from short-circuiting.
Batteries can also be dropped off in clear plastic bags, such as snack bags, but there can only be one battery per bag.
If you don’t have tape at home, the attendant at the center will have some you can use.
Officials are also asking that you do not stockpile large numbers of batteries, instead bringing the old ones in as you replace them with new batteries.
If you have any questions you can call 812-524-1100.
