Shelby County crash claims one life

One person is dead after a crash yesterday morning on State Road 9 in Shelby County.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, a minivan was westbound on County Road 650S at about 7:45 a.m. Thursday morning when the driver went off the road, then into the path of an eastbound truck on State Road 9. The driver of the minivan was declared dead at the scene, while a juvenile passenger in the van was taken to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment.

The driver of the semi was taken to Major Hospital in Shelbyville for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.
