Shelbyville Man Arrested After Police Chase

A Shelbyville Man was arrested on Wednesday after a traffic stop turned into a countywide police chase. On Wednesday, officers with the Shelbyville Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Kendall Ervine. Officers were familiar with Ervine and knew he was a habitual traffic violator and did not possess a valid driver’s license.
When officers attempted to initiate the traffic stop, Ervine refused to stop, and a vehicle pursuit began. The pursuit traveled through the City of Shelbyville. During the pursuit, Ervine intentionally struck a Shelbyville Police Department patrol vehicle with his vehicle.
The pursuit continued into Shelby County, where multiple attempts were made to safely bring the pursuit to an end. Ervine drove off the roadway in an attempt to avoid tire deflation devices and struck a fence. Ervine continued attempting to flee and struck a Shelby County Sheriff’s Department patrol vehicle before driving into a ditch, where his vehicle became disabled.
Officers were then able to take Ervine into custody without further incident. No officers, deputies, or the suspect were injured during the incident.
Ervine was transported to MHP Medical Center for evaluation and was remanded into the custody of the Shelby County Jail. Ervine faces multiple criminal charges related to this incident.
