Smell of marijuana at Seymour home leads to arrest

Authorities arrested a Seymour woman Monday after the strong scent of marijuana coming from a home led police to investigate.

According to the Seymour Police Department, officers were on patrol Monday, when they noticed the smell at a home in the 700 block of West McDonald Street. After talking to someone at the home, police received a search warrant from Jackson Circuit Court and a search uncovered more than 10 pounds of pot, marijuana edibles and cartridges. They estimate that the stash had a street value of more than $10,000.

They arrested 35-year-old Andrea B. Welton on preliminary felony charges of dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance, as well as for possessing drug paraphernalia.
