Students to be recognized for progress at Saturday event

The Community Education Coalition’s Umoja initiative will be recognizing students on Saturday at Nexus Park for their achievements as part of its Education Matters program.

Felicia Garr with the Community Education Coalition explains that the event is meant to recognize students making progress on their goals:

The recognition will come at half time during the women’s IU Columbus basketball game at Nexus Park on Saturday. The game starts at 1 p.m. and it is free to attend.

The event is part of Black History Month celebrations in Columbus and Bartholomew County. It is sponsored by the African American Foundation, IU Columbus, & Umoja. You can find a complete list of events at blackhistorycolumbus.com.
