Suspected guilty in Columbus store robbery

A man has been found guilty in an October 2024 robbery of a Columbus convenience store.

According to the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation began after police were called to a robbery at the Village Pantry on Washington Street.

Police identified Jaison Simpson as a suspect and a felony robbery charge was filed against him in June. A trial this week included testimony from the Columbus Police Department, members of the Monroe County High Tech Crime unit and a victim. Deputy Prosecutors Jordan Lorenzo and Bethani Ramsey handled the case.

The jury deliberated for about an hour before finding Simpson guilty.

Bartholomew County Superior Court 1 Judge Jim Worton set sentencing for December 16th.
