Thursday event to celebrate Grammy Awards, black history

Local students will be able to have a taste of the glitz of the Grammy Awards with a Black History Month event Thursday.

The Umoja Grammy Awards, Black History through Music event will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Columbus Learning Center.

Felicia Garr, coordinator of the Umoja initiative at the Community Education Coalition, explains The Umoja Grammy Awards, Black History through Music event.

Garr said the event will include a red carpet, music and dance performances and education on the history behind the music and lyrics.

The event is free and you are invited to attend.
