Traffic enforcement blitz leads to arrests, citations

Indiana State Police say that a recent traffic enforcement effort in Bartholomew and Jackson counties led to seven arrests, 72 citations and 104 warnings.

According to troopers, the special patrols focused on aggressive driving, impaired driving and traffic safety violations on Interstate 65 in Bartholomew and Jackson counties. Of the citations, 55 were for speeding. One person was arrested for driving while intoxicated, four arrests involved drug charges, one for driving while a habitual traffic violator and one person was taken into custody for an outstanding felony warrant.

Troopers also made 41 stops to provide services do drivers who were in need of assistance. They inspected seven commercial vehicles during the patrols, which led to 20 noted violations and one driver being taken out of service.

Indiana State Police say that they will continue these targeted “wolfpack” patrols in an effort to keep area roadways safe.
