Winter market returns Saturday; Pilot program shows community interest

A downtown Columbus winter market is seeing success in its pilot program to gauge interest in a permanent home for the events.

The next indoor downtown Columbus market is coming up on Saturday. The Seasonal Entertainment Arts and Recreation Space, or SEARS Winter Market will be in the former Sears building block between Third and Fourth Streets and Jackson and Brown streets.

Columbus Mayor Mary Ferdon explains the importance of the market to the downtown improvement efforts in the Columbus Downtown 2030 plan.

Ferdon said that the planning showed a community desire to extend the farmers market from warm months into a winter event also.

That led to the pilot program of the winter market. The goal is to to offer residents a warm, indoor space to shop, eat, relax, and socialize

The market, organized by the Office of Downtown Development, will include local artisans, food trucks, a bar featuring seasonal drinks, coffee, live music, games and activities for all ages.

The event is free and you are invited to attend.

The market will be going on from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
