Drunken incident leads to North Vernon woman’s arrest

A woman was arrested recently after a violent incident at a North Vernon home.

The North Vernon Police Department announced this morning that they were called to a disturbance at a home on March 10th where a woman was reportedly intoxicated and fighting with several people. Officers say that they encountered 25-year-old Leighanna Williams who was uncooperative, used abusive language against officers and tried to flee the scene, but she was taken into custody.

Because of her behavior and level of intoxication, she was taken to a medical facility to be checked out and the continued to be combative with police and staff at the hospital.

She is facing charges of battery, resisting Law Enforcement, disorderly Conduct and public intoxication.
