Voting underway for the first pet mayor of Columbus

Voting is underway for the first pet mayor of Columbus.

IU Columbus and Columbus Animal Care Services are looking for the city’s first pet mayor as a fundraiser for the two organizations.

Residents nominated their pet to serve as the pet mayor and voting is taking place through April 20th. Each vote costs $1 and the new pet mayor will be announced on April 22nd, as part of this year’s IU Day celebration.

Funds raised will go toward scholarships for IU Columbus students and the city operated animal shelter.
