Elevated fire risk today due to dry conditions
Officials are warning about an elevated risk of wildfires today.
According to the Bartholomew County Emergency Management Department, forecasters say that low humidity combined with dry fuels and wind gusts of 15 to 30 mph this afternoon will combine to allow fires to start easily and to spread quickly.
They are recommending that you limit outdoor burning if possible, and use extra caution if you are using anything that could spark a fire. You should also make sure that you dispose of any used smoking materials such as cigarette butts and avoid the use of open flames.
They urge you to stay alert and to help reduce the risk of accidental fires in the area.
