Red Cross holding rally today in Columbus

The American Red Cross of Indiana will be holding a rally today in Columbus to raise awareness of the agency’s missions and initiatives.

The event will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bespoke Events + Experiences, which is at 412 Washington Street in Columbus.

According to the Red Cross the event will give you a chance to learn more about blood donations, disaster response, support to the Armed Forces, emergency preparedness and the home fire campaign, to help reduce home fire deaths and injuries.

Mayor Mary Ferdon will be presenting a proclamation honoring the Red Cross at 4:30 and Capt. Mike Wilson with the Columbus Fire Department will be giving presentations at 5:15 and 6 p.m.

A Red Cross emergency response vehicle will be on hand for participants to explore. The vehicles are used by Red Cross teams during disaster responses to distribute meals and emergency supplies.

You will also be able to get information about volunteering with the Red Cross and keeping your family safe.

The event is free and you are invited to attend. Food and drinks are available for purchase.
