Thousands remain without power after overnight storms

Thousands of people are without power across south central Indiana this morning after last night’s storms knocked down power lines.

According to Duke Energy, more than 9,000 customers are without power in southeastern Indiana, with about 7,000 of those in the Madison area. There are also more than 100 customers without power in Columbus, 147 in Nashville , two in North Vernon, 28 in Brownstown and 445 in Scottsburg.

Jackson County REMC has more than 1,800 customers without power including more than 1200 near and north of Freetown and 371 around Scottsburg.

South Central Indiana REMC has 4,502 customers without power including 1063 in Mornroe County, 1886 in Owen County, 463 in Brown County and 117 in Johnson County.

Southeastern Indiana REMC has 770 customers without power.

Bartholomew County REMC is reporting four customers without power this morning. Johnson County REMC is not reporting any outages this morning.
