250th celebrations start in downtown Columbus today

The city of Columbus is kicking off its Celebrate 250 events today with a week of activities leading up to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Today will be American Revolution Day from 4 to 8 p.m. on Fourth Street. Hosted by the Daughters of the American Revolution there will be hands on activities including making a toy, fabric dolls and whirlygigs.

Other highlights this wee include an All American Festival on Central at the Columbus Municipal Airpark campus from 2 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday. And on the Fourth of July there will be Celebrate 250 Day downtown from 8 to 5:30 p.m.
