Area trooper recognized with annual Trooper of the Year awards

Indiana State Police are recognizing the Troopers of the District for posts across the state.

For the Versailles Post, Trooper Mark Naylor was recognized at a ceremony in Indianapolis earlier this week.

Naylor is a two-year veteran of the Indiana State Police. He is a graduate of Jennings County High School, Indiana University and the Indiana State Police Academy. While at IU, Naylor participated in the Indiana University Police Department Cadet Program and served as an IUPD officer. He then served with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office from 2013-2015 and the Greensburg Police Department from 2015 until leaving for the Indiana State Police Academy in 2024.

Master Trooper Jackie Smith has been selected as the Trooper of the District for the Sellersburg Post. Smith is a 35‑year veteran of the Indiana State Police.
