Authorities warning of dangers of leaving vehicles to warm up
Authorities are warning that leaving your running vehicle outside to warm up in this cold weather gives an opportunity to thieves who want to take your ride.
According to Greensburg police, leaving your vehicle running and unattended is an open invitation to car thieves. They say that it only takes seconds for an opportunistic thief to hop into an unlocked, running vehicle and drive away.
They are offering tips including:
- Never leaving your keys in the ignition if you aren’t in the driver’s seat.
- If you use a remote starter, make sure to keep your doors locked.
- If you need to warm up your vehicle, you should stay with it while it is running.
