State troopers alerting truckers to human trafficking signs
Indiana State Police are helping to raise awareness of human trafficking with a campaign this week.
According to troopers, the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division is partnering with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance to provide information on human trafficking to commercial drivers as part of roadside commercial vehicle inspections during the awareness initiative this week.
Authorities say commercial drivers are often in places where human trafficking may occur such as in truck stop parking lots, rest area parking lots, or in commercial locations.
The alliance collaborates with the former Truckers Against Trafficking group in the fight against human trafficking.
Human trafficking is “the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of people through force, fraud, or deception with the aim of exploiting them for profit.”
