Bartholomew adds new director of community corrections

Bartholomew County has a new director of community corrections, only the fifth in the 40-year history of the program.

The Bartholomew County Commissioners ratified a decision by the community corrections board to promote Stacey Harry to the role.

Harry is a graduate of Columbus East High School and a U.S. Army veteran. She began working with Bartholomew County Court Services in 2003 and became a supervisor for adult probation in 2017. She also worked as a case manager in Bartholomew County Veterans Treatment Court and as director of the court alcohol and drug program.

She has been a Columbus resident since 1990 and is married with two children.

The previous director, Rob Gaskill, served in the role from 2008 until his death in 2025.

Community Corrections falls under the Court Services Division and is responsible for overseeing home detention, electronic monitoring, work release, county work crews, community service, diversion programs and the community transition program.

Commissioner Larry Kleinhenz pointed out that the director selection is an unusual process, in that the advisory board selects the new director, but must be approved by the commissioners as the county executive body.
