Bartholomew County plans switch to new alert system

Bartholomew County will be moving to a new system to send out weather warnings and other alerts to residents.

According to the Bartholomew County Emergency Management Department, the county will soon be leaving Everbridge and moving to a new system called CodeRed. County emergency officials say that the change will be launching in the coming weeks. And that CodeRed will “offer expanded options for emergency messaging and deliver critical alerts quickly and effectively when they matter most.”

The county has been trying to sort out problems with the Everbridge notification system affecting some residents. Some residents say that they have received missed calls from the system, but that no voice mail has been left. When they tried to return the call, it went directly to the 911 Dispatch Center instead of being able to hear the alert immediately.

Emergency officials say that they have checked for any potential phone line issues and have escalated the complaints to Everbridge for further investigation.

The county has been using the Everbridge system to send out alerts via phone, text and email for about 13 years.

They say that CodeRed is a “proven and reliable platform designed to better serve our community.”
