Columbus firefighters recognized for life-saving efforts

Three Columbus firefighters are being commended for their lifesaving efforts during a recent incident.

According to the Columbus Fire Department, Lieutenant Andrew Jordan, Firefighter Paramedic Jordan Hite and Firefighter Paul Chapple were recognized yesterday with Exceptional Medical Care commendations for their efforts during a June 15th call involving a critically injured woman.

Columbus Engine Company No. 6 was called to a local factory after a woman was seriously burned. The firefighters quickly found the woman had second- and third-degree burns and began advanced medical care measures. They coordinated with a medical helicopter to have her evacuated to a Level 1 trauma and burn center.

Fire Chief Andy Lay praised the firefighters for the swift response and high-quality care saying their efforts reflect “the highest standards of fire and emergency medical profession and brings great credit to themselves and their department,” said Chief Lay.
