Columbus Human Rights Commission seeks members

The Columbus Human Rights Commission is looking for residents to serve as commission board members.

The Commission’s primary responsibility is to enforce the City’s anti-discrimination ordinance, which prohibits discrimination in housing, employment, public accommodation, credit, and education on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran status. The city also enforces rules against discrimination on family status, but only in housing cases.

Commissioners are appointed by the City Council for three-year terms and serve without pay. Newly-appointed Commissioners receive human rights training from Commission staff.
