CPD deputy chief graduates from FBI National Academy

Columbus Police Department Deputy Chief Douglas “Matt” Martindale has graduated the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

According to the Columbus Police Department, Martindale recently completed the course as a member of the 296th academy class. The academy offers 11 weeks of training that covers, advanced communication, leadership, and fitness.

Fewer than one percent of officers nationwide have the opportunity to attend the program.

Martindale is a graduate of Indiana University, and the IU Police Academy before starting with Columbus police in 2014. He has served as a police officer, detective and detective sergeant, before being promoted to deputy chief in April 2024.
