Cummins offering rewards for Ram pickup software recall

Cummins is offering a program to pay up to $1,000 for certain Ram owners who bring their trucks in for a software update under a recall.

According to the Columbus based engine manufacturers, the software update for Emissions Recall 67A will reduce tailpipe emissions and does not change the truck’s power, torque, or responsiveness. The company says the update will be at no cost to owners, takes less than an hour to complete and does not require any parts or hardware. The update is for Ram 2500 and 3500 models made between 2013 and 2018.

To get the update, drivers will need to bring their truck to an authorized Ram dealership. After the update is complete, owners will receive a $500 prepaid debit card and an extended warranty covering select emissions and aftertreatment components. The company is offering a promotion to the first 750 owners who bring their vehicles in for the recall, by doubling the award to $1,000. The window to be eligible for that promotion ends on March 31st.

Cummins is offering the reward program to customers to meet federal requirements and protect long-term vehicle performance.
