Decatur County chosen for state planning grant

Decatur County is receiving a $60,000 state grant to develop community and economic development projects.

Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs are announcing $1.3 million in planning grants to give communities through the Community Development Block Grant program. That includes two comprehensive planning grants.  One of those is going to Decatur County.

The comprehensive planning grants are meant to aid communities in evaluating assets and identifying opportunities to address current needs. They cover areas such as land use, government capacity, public services, placemaking, economic development, housing, transportation, agriculture, natural resources and historic resources.

The town of Remington also received a comprehensive planning grant this cycle.
