Driver faces charges after early morning North Vernon crash

A driver was arrested in North Vernon early Friday morning after a crash near the intersection of State Roads 3 and 7.
According to North Vernon Police, 22-year-old Lynsidny B. Fields of North Vernon was driving an SUV that left the road at about 5:30 a.m. Friday morning, striking a fire hydrant and mailbox before coming to rest in the grass. The vehicle was seriously damaged and police say Fields showed signs of impairment including slurred speech, confusion and difficulty maintaining her balance. She was taken into custody and a search uncovered controlled substances including Xanax and prescription medications that did not belong to her.
She is facing preliminary charges of possessing a controlled substance and a legend drug as well as operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment.
