Dry weather continues; Air quality alert issued again

Forecasters say that there will be an elevated risk of outdoor fires today, as our spell of hot and dry weather continues.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, we can expect another afternoon with telative humidity values as low as 25 to 35 percent. That will combine with will combine with dry ground conditions to make for a marginal elevated risk of fires. The dry conditions are expected to last through Saturday afternoon, with a chance of thunderstorms Saturday evening.

Jennings County officials have issued a countywide burn ban due to the dry conditions.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has declared another Air Quality Action Day for today. That means high levels of ground ozone could make it hard to breath for some people. Children, the elderly, anyone with heart conditions or with respiratory disease, such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor exposure today.

The warning is in effect until midnight tonight.
