Duke Foundation aids local groups with cold-weather needs

Duke Energy Foundation has issued grants to help local agencies in the midst of this extreme weather.

According to the foundation, Duke issued $55 thousand in grants to 21 organizations across the central and southern Indiana to help with community needs such as warming shelters, emergency supplies and blankets. The shareholder-funded grants are being distributed to help strengthen local efforts to address cold-weather needs

Local organizations receiving the $2,500 grants included:

  • Bartholomew Emergency Management Agency

  • Brown County YMCA

  • Decatur County Emergency Management Agency

  • Sunshine House in Shelby County

  • Shelby County Emergency Management Agency

Stan Pinegar, president, Duke Energy Indiana said the power companies “glad to be able to support organizations across the state that are doing great work for Indiana’s communities every day, and particularly during this storm.”
