Duke Foundation assists those in hunger with area charity donations

Local non-profit groups are receiving donations from the Duke Energy Foundation to help feed the hungry.

The foundation is announcing $207,000 in donations to Indiana groups.

Among the locations in our area, the Ecumenical Assembly of Bartholomew County Churches are receiving $2,500 for the Love Chapel holiday food program. The Columbus Regional Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence is receiving $5,000 for household supplies and grocery gift cards. The United Way of Jackson County is also receiving $8,500 for its food pantry.

The foundation has made $311,000 in donations for hunger relief and basic needs in Indiana this year.
